When I first heard about this game I thought it was going to be another cheap zombie tale and was surprised Telltale was making it because they are primarily about story, character development, and puzzles. I really hated anything that had to do with zombies because I thought the premise was stupid with all these convoluted reasons why zombie exists and the gameplay is incredibly repetitive and boring.
For that reason, I never got into Walking Dead until I saw just what it was really about through this game; not about zombies, but survival and how humanity changes in the circumstances of an apocalypse with some losing their humanity while others exploit it for their own gains. It finally allows characters to stop and acknowledge that these zombies were once people (as opposed to other games where characters just see them as sport) and really embraces just how horrible and tragic such a set of circumstances really is.
This is the only franchise with zombies in it that I really have enjoyed and it is amazing how well Telltale made it. I will never be crazy about the whole zombie craze, but Walking Dead truly makes it into an incredible and emotional tale and this has extended into the game amazingly.
