Default Just want to say something about the Bandits and Ben's supplying

-ahem- At the end of Episode 2, Jolene said that as long as the St. Johns supply the Bandits with food, they would probably leave The Motor-Inn alone.

However; The St Johns were no longer able to give the bandits food. So obviously they would turn their attention to the Motor-Inn. Had Ben not provided them with drugs and other supplies, they probably would have stricken sooner. And the RV hadn't been ready until well...it actually happened. The casualty rate would be higher, if not everyone, if Ben hadn't supplied them.

And that shit about them having his friend? Ben made that up. In the heat of the moment the reason of keeping them off your backs didn't seem validated to him; so he made up something that made him seem like he had a more heartfelt reason.

But how would you know that? He tells Lee the bandits said they had his friend, which later he found out was a lie. And since the deal also kept the bandits from attacking them, he just kept it going. At least that's what I've gathered from what he says.

The point is he was not even really a member of the group....he was just a kid we found a week or so ago and already he is lying to everyone, stealing the meds, and fooling with the count sheets.
Him giving the supplies was the least of the troubles, why didn't he just tell the group what the bandits said (whether for his friends safety or just theirs) and the group would know about it that way and wouldn't take the bag away from them and instead would have been focusing on getting shit ready to get the fuck on out of there away from bandits before it became a fight for their lives.
Plus (and i already said this but...its being said again) HE LIED TO THEM!!!
This above all else made him dead to me as we no longer have money, or anything of value, all you have is your word (people need to trust/depend on you) and if you don't have that then YOU are the walking dead! I even fed Ben and assumed that Carley had stole the flashlight at least (she said something about the batteries might be in backwards) so when she died I felt like she had earned her death (with her mouth alone proly jeez) anyway when ben admitted what he had done I turned my game off because I was so fucking angry/disappointed in him. I felt betrayed and this led me to not even shooting Oberson, Letting things fall where they may

The bandits did attack before and could do nothing more than fill the wall with arrows and bullets. If Ben thought that the deal was such a good idea, there's still no excuse for not telling everyone else, especially since the supplies he was giving away seems to have been mainly medicine. If he told the others, the group could've debated how long they should try to stay and whether to strengthen the defenses and/or keep the deal going until they're ready to go, instead he kept it a secret resulting in Lilly getting more paranoid, and then when Lee found the missing supplies, Ben allowed the bandits to walk right into the gates without warning anyone, probably because the he thought that the bandits were just going to get the medicine that he had no right giving away in the first place. Ben had absolutely no right to make such a deal without the group's approval...doubly so since the deal involved medicine.

I see no reason to think he wasn't trying to do both, he first tried to save his friend, and then when he found out that the bandits didn't have him, he kept the deal going because he thought it was good for the group. Unfortunately good intentions doesn't make the consequences any less severe, and the consequences of his secret was that the wall was compromised, Duck was bit, Kat killed herself out of grief, Lilly became further unhinged as soon as she learned there was a traitor in the group which ended in her killing Carley/Doug, Ken lost the family he lived for, and the group lost all the supplies that they had to leave behind in the motel. Shame the game didn't let Lee kick Ben's ass out onto the road after such a monumental screw-up because, throughout Ep. 3 and 4, the danger that causes the most damage to the group and came all too close to indirectly killing everyone in Crawford is the reverse King Midas that is Ben.

The best part about this is that I don't really care all that much.

I just like to see what other people think and get discussions going.
Ben is probably one of my favorite things to hear opinions about, so this is pretty great.
