Default If You Played the Whole Game in a Day

Forum users have talked about their episode to episode reactions. Each episode has packed an emotional punch. How do you think you would feel if you played all five episodes in one day? Not necessarily back to back, I would take a meal and restroom break, but within a day. Would your emotional reaction have been more intense? Instead of having weeks between episodes to ponder your choices and replay parts to see how things would be different, you did one complete play-through in a day. I suspect my emotional reaction would have been nearing overload. Not in the break-down-and-cry, but the I-can’t-process-everything. Instead of being able to reflect and judge whether I made the right call, I would have been likely playing on gut feeling/instinct/split second choices. How about you?

I don't think I could play all of this in one day and idk how the 5th episode is either. Just playing them now in a day (or 2) is kinda too much to process so I would imagine not knowing even how this game is and playing through to the end would be like suicide watch time for alot...I would at least need a drink or 2...or 8

I think it is better playing through episode by episode. Doing so makes it seem as if I have been with these characters for as much time that is presented(Around 3 months with the initial group) instead of beating the game within 12-14 hours, only to feel as if these characters came and went too quickly. An emotional connection I have with this game that I don't have with others is the fact that I have to continually live in this world months at a time, not just in one sitting then throwing it on the back-burner.

I played episodes 1-3 all in one day. I didn't find this game until September. So yeah, got hooked and spent a whole Saturday playing all the episodes (that were available at the time).

I don't really think it changed any of my reactions had I played them bi-monthly like mostly everyone else.

I would be going through the games so fast I wouldn't have time to react and grieve for the loss of some of the characters so I doubt that I would even feel all the emotions I felt by playing them monthly as they come out.

This is what makes the game so special, it gives you time to reflect on who died and your choices and it gets you feeling different emotions. I don't think playing them all in one day would be good for my playing style.

Breaks? AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *ahem*
Playing the whole game in a day would give me a headache, I wouldn't have been able to get over all the sick stuff that happened during the episodes, I would have been thinking about what happened for a long while. It would shock me more, but the time between every episode release made me stick to some characters/speculate what I'd do next. All of ze speculation made me more excited about the following episode.

Edit: Questionaire has got a point there. The time between the releases made me stick to some of the characters emotionally.

You'd be a lot less attached to Carley and some characters that people unconsciously developed over the downtime between installments, which would lessen some players' reactions. On the other side, there would be a lot of successive traumatic ordeals, as Ghositex points out, that would have no time to collect yourself between breaks. Following episode 3 immediately with the sequence burying the boy would have a much stronger impact.

So you gain something for the tone and lose something for the tone.
