Default Charles "Chuck" - The Mystical Hobo appreciation thread!

Unfortunately our beloved Chuck wasn't with us for very long and had fairly minimal screen time. In my opinion he shouldn't of been written off so quickly, perhaps some of you may agree with me.

I think what we made me feel so emotional about his death was that his death was not even acknowledged by anyone other than Lee when he was found. As Lee said, the old man deserved better.

The magical hobo gave Lee some great advice, saved Clem with his badass shovel and died a hero.

R.I.P you sexy beast. <3

I just didn't feel much when he died, I feel like I didn't get to know him well enough. I noticed it was his body lying there before Lee got close enough to trigger the cutscene, which kinda made it a little less emotional for me. I feel bad to admit that I forgot about him the instant I walked into Vernon's group at the morgue.
Nevertheless, Chuck was a good person, but I didn't have enough time to get attached to him and know him a little better.

Rest in peace, good sir. Glad you were there to give me all those valuable advices. And candy. I shall not forget the candy.

I didn't feel much for Chuck, but he was a great guy, but I didn't really have enough time to connect with him like some of the other characters. I am grateful for him to have saved Clem, which is why I was a little upset by seeing him dead because he was good to Lee and the group. Much nicer than some of the other characters that we didn't know very well. When we first met him I thought he was gonna be some suspicious old guy, but in the short time that I knew him, I really enjoyed him being in the game.

But you know why he was cut, don't you... Telltale seems to have problems with keeping characters like him in for long amounts of time, because it means more money lost for them and their writers need to do lots more work. It's like Carley and Doug, they were struggling to keep up two storylines which were almost parallel, so they decided to axe the, from the game before anymore could become of it, and to make Carley's death worse they started the romance thing to get you really attached to her. It's the same for Chuck, he was made save Clem and look like a real hero. Because most players love Clem and would hate for anything to happen to her, they introduced this part of the game so you would feel a little bit emotional over his death.

Sorry if anyone was pissed off when I wrote about Carley and Doug, but I needed to for comparison

I liked Charles. For the short time he was in my group I thought he had good ideas and enjoyed the time he played his guitar.

I remember what he did for the group and the sacrafice he made to help Clem. He is a hero just like Doug. Good people die in TWD. Some die heroic deaths others pointless deaths. Just another day in TWD.

Thanks Charles for the memories, music and the candy. Rest in peace my brother.

its kind of like ark in episode 2 didn't get his moment to shine. For mark instead of the arrow to the shoulder why not the knee?

Oh god. WHY do the most likable characters stay for only an episode or so? Mark was awesome, and Chuck only got like 3 lines in episode 4. The guy was great. Without Chuck, I don't think that Lee would've considered letting Clem handle a gun.

IŽve said it before and IŽll say it again, it wasnŽt THAT Chuck died that pissed me off, it was HOW he died. It seemed like Telltale didnŽt give a shit about one of my favourite characters.

R.I.P. Chuck, I will never forget what you did for this group in the short time we met you.

They needed a quick and easy way to kill him off, they chose the easy way out where it only needed one character to see him, and then Lee never mentioned him again and the other guys didn't even question it, like they didn't care.

He was originally supposed to die in Ep. 3. I wish he had b/c finding him in a sewer miles away was just weird.

It's a subtype of the "Kick the dog" trope.

In Mark's case, the fact that he was likeable and stable made what the St. Johns did to him seem all the worse, kind of like that nameless sniper kid in Expendables 2. The reaction wouldn't have been as strong if it were a caustic, unstable staple character like Larry, or even Lilly.

Chuck's death is more of a show of vulnerability. He was a survivor and gave good advice, he was probably meant to demonstrate that "shit got real." Honestly, he was one of the few cases in TWD where I let my guard down and actually DID expect him to make it back alive.

I concur with the OP. He was an unsung hero and deserved better.

CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

I honestly expected him to pop back and continue on into halfway through Ep 5. Didn't even occur to me that he might die in Ep 4 cuz I thought all the new characters introduced in Ep 3 would get some char development...

Guess not

Glad there is such a strong reaction for our majestic hobo. I feared I was one of the few that cared.

[ TOP SECRET ] leaked story info

after Chuck was separated from the group he noticed a rainbow, he followed it until the end where he dug up his pot of gold, not for the gold but for his trusty magical gun that shoots who you want if you just aim in their general direction, but unfortunately when he grabbed his stash of golden whiskey he forgot about extra ammo, so later on his way to share a drink with his two new buddies kenny and lee, he got surrounded and had to hide in the sewers, while there he was met with unbeatable odds so he saved his last bullet for himself, 5 minutes later lee enters the sewers.
