Because he was, in a way, Harry's best and favorite teacher when Harry hated him so much.
Because
the books flesh Harry and Snape out more as people who downright hate each other. In the movies, Snape is snide and mean, but it's never really shown why Harry just can't stand him at all.
Then it turns out that Harry learns a whole lot from him, and that it's quite probable that Harry's mother did also, if Slughorn is to be believed about her being one of Slughorn's best and favorite students.
I like the books for the humor and the interactions between the characters, not just the plot. Reading/listening about Ron and Hermione argue about "spew" is much more enjoyable to me than reading/listening about
Robert PattinsonCedric dying.
Also, the lessons with Dumbledore are some of my favorite parts of Book 6. I liked that things were in a way back to normal, to confirm that it is
Dumblore who is the only real protection that Harry has left.

Again, the books flesh it out better. The
fireworks weren't Fred and George's final prank in the books. It was Umbridge's first day
as "Headmistress" and the school, even the teachers, hated her so much that it was enjoyable for the school to turn her first day of
victory over Dumbledore to turn into a complete nightmare. Also, the fireworks are hilarious because they refuse to be put out.
