I don't know why I bother replying at this point, but chalk up yet another victim of the corrupt save issue. I just received the "corrupt save" message tonight, and quickly headed to the forums for a solution. I initially thought there was hope after reading about the 1.03 patch. But, like others, this did nothing to bring back my saved data. Seems I should be playing my games online, despite having no such issue with any other games I own.
It appears most people encountered this problem earlier than I did (I just noticed mine after playing about an hour into Episode 5). But it really doesn't matter if this had happened during Episode 4 or even 3 - there is no way in hell I'm going to play back hours and hours of gameplay. The enjoyment I derived from this game was from experiencing the seemingly spontaneous events and quick decisions. So if TTG is really suggesting replaying the game over from the start, then that truly is a pathetic attempt to rectify the situation. The random decision generator if I wanted to just start at Episode 5 is an equally woeful option. Instead, I'll probably just watch somebody's playthrough on YouTube, if anything at all.
So again, I doubt this post will mean anything of significance to TTG. Instead I'm sure the focus now is cashing in on the disc version that is due early next week. And just in time for the holiday season! And people like me and the others responding to threads like this (i.e. the ones that made the game a success in the first place) get completely and utterly hosed by essentially purchasing a broken beta version. Hopefully they can use the money I gave them to release a competent and unbroken product for their next release. But I obviously have my doubts.
