Chapter 4 choice causes NPCs to behave inconsistently? *spoiler, obviously*
So, toward the end of Chapter 4, after returning from Crawford, when Vernon pulled me aside for a chat... he started acting really weird.
When I met Vernon's group in the sewer, I diffused the situation as passively as possible. I made a point of it, not to make any threats or tell any lies to the group, as I did not feel there would be any benefit from any of that. The ONLY thing I told him that wasn't true was that Clementine was my daughter. I felt that was of no consequence and was irrelevant as that is how I treated her.
Anyway, when he pulled me aside he said things like, "You have no sympathy for others.", "Look what you did to get me to come here." and "I don't like being threatened."
I'm sitting here like, "what the fuck?" I definitely did NOT threaten him.
Did my one choice to refer to Clementine as my daughter cause this? I figured the game may have just glitched and registered me as having chosen to threaten Vernon's group. However, I'm now seeing the statistics page at the end of chapter 4 and one of the statistics is:
Hippocratic Oath
Did you lie or threaten Vernon?
Now, admittedly, I did tell a small lie, but certainly nothing that warrants his behavior toward the end of the chapter. Accusing me of not caring about others, even after I chose to rescue Ben.
Did this one small lie cause the game to register me as "hostile" or did the game actually glitch and give me the wrong NPC script?
