Telltale Texas Hold'Em The Walking Dead – ‘Hitching’ on Xbox 360 4GB

After investigating reports of severe ‘hitching’ (gameplay interrupted by unacceptable freezing or stuttering) when playing The Walking Dead on Xbox 360, we have determined that this issue affects the following only:
  • Xbox 360 4GB models not fitted with an internal hard disk drive, playing the disc-based (retail) version of the game
This issue does NOT affect Xbox 360s fitted with an internal hard disk drive or Xbox 360 4GB (no internal hard disk drive) users playing the digital version of the game downloaded from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Remedy

Acquiring and installing an internal hard disk drive compatible with your Xbox360 4GB console will resolve this issue (a hard disk drive connected via your Xbox 360’s USB port will NOT provide a remedy).

If you are unable to acquire and install an internal hard disk drive for your Xbox 360 4GB, we will supply you with codes to download season one (5 episodes) of The Walking Dead from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace at no charge as outlined in the associated Claim Redemption Form [Click here to download].

Upon confirmation of proof of purchase, Xbox LIVE Marketplace codes and instructions for their use will be sent to you at no charge.

We value our customers and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Telltale Texas Hold'Em Installing TWD episodes on 4GB Xbox 360

The question has come up to whether or not The Walking Dead can fit on the 4GB internal flash drive on the Xbox 360. Due to the file size of the game, not all episodes can be installed onto your 4GB Xbox 360 (not fitted with an internal hard disk drive) at the same time unless the hard drive is nearly empty.

This can be remedied one of two ways.
  • If you have access to an 4-16GB USB flash drive, you can download an episode of The Walking Dead and then transfer it to your flash drive. Repeat this process to download all 5 episodes. The digital version of the game can be played directly from a flash drive without experiencing the hitching issues reported in connection with the retail disc.
  • If you do not have access to a USB Flash drive, you can download Episode 1 and the episode you wish to play. Once an episode is completed, the game data for that episode can be removed from the console and the next episode can be installed. Please note however, that Episode 1 must ALWAYS be installed in order to play the game.
