Default Newfound respect for Kenny

I was playing episode 5 (the version without Ben) & I realized something...
Kenny saved TWO lives by rescuing Christa since she was pregnant!

In the other version, he tries to rescue Ben & fails of course.

Sorry to be so obsessed with this (and/or if this is too obvious or has already been addressed) but it weighs on my mind for some reason. I guess because I wanted to be friends with Kenny, felt betrayed by him a few times just because I disagreed with him, but then him saving the future-mother Christa is almost like a breath of hope in an otherwise bleak game.

He does attempt to save him. One of his last lines to Lee can be "I either save the boy or get to see her. Either way." Thus he had an intention to save him even if he couldn't.

I think Kenny realized Christa was pregnant in the attic when she refused the alcohol initially, and Lee pretty much confirms that's why he saved her if you confront her about it afterward.

We may have had our disagreements, but he was a good man.

That's exactly how I consider Kenny.

he was a good buddy to me, and even though i now know Larry wasn't dead in the barn, it still was the right call (for me) to side with ken, because frankly: his heart stopped, how are the chances we are getting him back? anyways: that's not the topic.
Even though i didn't always agree with him he was a good man.

Kennys story like Lees was a story of redemption. Kenny never got over the death of Shaun, blaming himself for it and believing his inaction in that death to be a contributing factor in Duck's death. The way he treated members of the group, what he did to Larry, the callous attitude to the woman in the street, all were signs of his de-humanization. He was becoming like one of the monsters, and I'm not talking about the walkers, from Crawford. I like to think in the end Kenny realised what he had become and regretted a good deal of the things he did and how he treated the people around him, especially Ben who he blamed for the exact thing Herchel blamed him for, and his sacrifice was a way of redeeming himself in the eyes of the group, Katjaa, and more importantly himself.

I've had newfound respect for Kenny after seeing the ending with Ben.
When you think about it, earlier that day he was wishing the kid was dead.
Ever since Ben gave Kenny his side of everything, he was a little nicer.
But when Ben got impaled on the balcony, Kenny sacrifices himself to mercy kill Ben.
Considering Ben tells Lee that being eaten alive is his biggest fear, it tells you a lot about Kenny that he'd sacrifice himself, to mercy kill Ben and save him from his biggest fear.
It's the ultimate apology, really.
