Spoilers! The Final Choice - Wasn't My Choice

Okay, so in my playing of the final episode, I let the timer run out, thinking I wanted Clem to decide what she felt was right, I was handcuffed to the radiator and wasn't going to hurt anybody so I felt it was a good time to start making her choose, letting her go. When she then said she was going to leave, and I watched one of my friends do the same thing and she said she was going to leave, I assumed that that was what she always did, but then I read that Clem decides what to do based on all of your choices throughout the game.

Did anyone else let Clem decide? If so, did she leave or did she decide to shoot you? I'm just really curious about Clem's decision and how many people even let Clem decide.

In my last playthrough I let her decide to and she left. I am starting to think she always does, to be honest, altough I shot both, doug and fivel and lost Ben in crawford, "Dying for the group."

I tested this with 2 different saves, both are the exact opposite choices, one scumbag lee and one goodguy Lee. All of the options, even the smallest dialog ones were different. Left me both times.

I think that if in ep. 3, when Lee cuting her hair and Clem asking him about murdering, if you said that killing is a bad, no matter how, then Clem will decide to leave Lee (my sityation)
Plus I saved Ben( but I left Mr. Parker by walkers), and I didn't kill St. Johns brothers( but I killed Jolene in the forest). There are only one human whom I killed, and Clementine saw that - it was Stranger.
I sure if I will try to kill both of St. Johns brothers, if I will let Ben die, and if I will teach Clementine that the surviving is doesn't mean to stay a man, then after all of that Clementine will deciding to shoot Lee.

I had at least one playthrough where she decided to shoot Lee on her own. I called it my hardass playthrough. I killed just about everybody I could except the Stranger (Wanted Clem to do it), the woman in the street (Better for our survival if I didn't), Fivel (Wanted Kenny to man up already) and Danny St. John (Because It was fun to piss Lilly off after killing her dad. )

I constantly told her the truth about everything, told her killing the St. Johns were necessary, her parents were dead, Lee killing before didn't really matter anymore, brought her to Crawford, never downplayed dangerous situations. I also let her vote on Ben, the immediately voted to throw Ben out afterwards. (Her face was priceless.)

In the end, she decided she could do it. Not sure if you have to do all that, it's just a few triggers or just random, but it is possible for Clementine to decide on her own to shoot Lee. Maybe it's not so much about what you teach her but how much of an asshole you are to her. I'd imagine that would make it easier to shoot Lee.

Well, my theory is right. Clem's decide depends of Lee's actions. It means that your Clementine are like a Carl (comics), and from the point of view of survival it's right behavior.
But I have really care about mental health of Clemmy, that's why I always tryed to teach her to humanly be kind. That's why I told her to leave Lee, and when I gave this choose to her, her decision was the same as my.

At the moment I feel proud of MY Clem and I have no regret...yet

that's weird like I said she left me both times. On my scumbag Lee I always choose the 'worst' option, killed both brothers, dropped ben, sweared at everyone, intimidated the cancer guys, shoot jolene, basically did everything that you would consider being "bad" and she still didn't shoot me.

Obviously same on my goodguy Lee (totally opposite choices)

Well on this particular playthrough where she elected to shoot Lee, I didn't play as "scumbag" Lee but just as a hardass survivor. I still stood up for Duck at the drugstore because I knew he wasn't bitten and we had plenty of time to deal with it and I wanted Kenny to stay my Ally, even though I chose to save Shawn earlier because I thought he was more helpful than Duck. But I helped killed Larry because it was a much worse situation where we didn't have any time.

I shot Duck and let Irene shoot herself because I didn't want to risk them coming back, but I let the woman in the street get eaten so she'd serve as a distraction. With the food I fed Lee and Clem, and then Carley and Mark because they seemed the most loyal to Lee. (Kenny was getting pissy and fuck Lilly.) I told the stranger I'd never hurt anyone I cared about and basically called him a nutcase who fucked up.

With Clem I was always brutally honest with her, but I didn't deliberately try to be mean to her for no reason. On this playthrough I just took it to heart what Chuck said about just being alive and kinda expected her to pull her weight. When she didn't I was giving her advice on how she could and when she did I praised her for it.

Like in the train station, I told her she needed to learn to pull the trigger. I think I told her killing Duck had to be done. When she opened the door at mansion I just complimented her, she saw a problem and fixed it without anyone telling her, good hustle. I let her vote at Crawford because if she contributes to the group she gets a say in it, then I voted against Ben afterwards because in this playthrough I was thinking "Ben's dead weight, cut him loose" and I didn't care if Clementine didn't agree. (I didn't even shoot Crawford, I just let him finish Ben off.)

Like I said, I don't know if it was just a single trigger in there somewhere or many or just dumb luck, but I did get one outcome where Clementine said she'd shoot Lee without being asked. I just replayed the final section again from that save file and Clem still chose to shoot Lee on her own even though I didn't stress the issue in the jewelry store.

All though quick note, looking at the stats I apparently did kill the Stranger myself on that playthrough. For what it's worth. Meaning the only people I didn't kill on this playthrough were the woman in the streets, the kid in the attic and Danny St. John (lol).

I never even thought about letting her choose. But really, Clem needed to shoot Lee. She'll never face a tougher test in the apocalypse.
