Default German translation for Walking dead

Will there be a German voice or at least a text translation for Walking Dead?

US version:

Doesn't look too good, I'm afraid.

Former Telltale games were released only in downloadable form. Retail versions followed much, much later, and some games never had a US retail release. This situation enabled German publishers to translate the game themselves and sell German retail versions. Yet with TWD, a retail version of the game in the US followed immediately after the Season, so this distribution model is impaired, as German fans can just order the retail version from the US.

Don't give up hope though - it all depends on the ongoing popularity of TWD in Germany. If that is kept up, there might still be a translation one day.

At the moment however, nothing is known about a possible translation. Maybe you could drop a kind note to Daedalic Entertainment?

Translation:
I've seen a german subbed Let's play once. A quick Google search should take you directly to the patch you're seeking. Not sure wether it's allowed to post the corresponding links on the Telltale forums so I leave it at that.

There are german subtitles available just as in pretty much all major languages. I posted a link some time ago but the mods removed it. They don't want fanmade patches being mentioned even though they are highly requested and essentially doing TTG a huge favor, by enlarging the customer base (non-english speakers).. for free. Just google and you'd find it. Keywords would be Walking Dead and *Snip*

Sorry, we can't have those links here. I proposed writing something to that effect into the forum rules and even submitted a draft of entirely new rules, but, yeah. I'm not Telltale.

I strongly disagree concerning the "helpfulness" of fan translations. They rather spread the pirated versions than the originals, and they diminish the chances of success for foreign language publishers who plan to sell a retail version with their own translation.

That's not the reason why we can't have any links here though. Trouble is, any mod made to a Telltale game that's openly discussed here might look like it's supported by Telltale, and that opens the literal Pandora's box concerning legal liability if anything goes wrong when such patches are installed.

Better safe than sorry...

This argument makes no sense. The subtitles are just files that you put in your folders. They have nothing to do with piracy. Every single one I have seen has instructions on it as well, all on how to apply it for your official steam version and nothing else. It's not a "crack" or "hack" or anything. it doesn't having anything to do with piracy. I have plenty of friends who bought the game but stopped early in EP01 due to lack of completely understanding the conversations. First thing everyone does then is open google and search for a way to fix it. And yea, they are all bought versions for those people fanmade translations are a godsend. Personally I prefer everything in English but I guess that's an option not everyone has.

Vainamoinen's argument does actually make sense, at least for the german version. Many of the sites I checked because of OP's question, providing the language patch, actually advertise download links for the game as well. I doubt that these are all legit, but he does have a point. He also has a point with foreign language publishers potentially losing customers, which is a problem, as they most definitely pay Telltale Games quite a few bucks to be allowed to localize and distribute their own version.
