Default Did Andy St. John purposely turn on the electric fence?

I was playing my second playthrough and I noticed something.
In Episode 2 when the electric fence came on and the bandits started attacking Lee and Mark, I noticed that Andy said that he heard Mark screamed and he thought he was giving him the okay signal so he turned the fence back on, but Mark never screamed.
I think he did it on purpose because they already planned on eating Mark or Lee, what do you guys think?

It is a little weird to me. It seems obvious that the bandits were sent to ambush them but if they had fallen on the fence for any reason I don't think they could've been used for food, according to the st. john's policy of keeping the meat "fresh." But it's also strange that it'd be an accident...I'm not sure.

He did it on purpose. They intended on killing the whole group, and this seemed like an easy way to take a couple of them out at once. Remember when Andy told Danny, "Mama said we can't keep that many folks alive and not expect trouble." Even if they weren't going to use the meat from Mark and Lee if they were fried, they wanted to keep the numbers down since they were already expecting the rest of the group to come later.

Andy probably turned it on to try and kill them. Notice that the arrow Mark gets shot with is different from the bandit arrows, and doesn't come from the woods. The bandits showing up was likely just a fluke, or perhaps they had been observing the St. Johns after finding out what the meat really was and were waiting for some payback.

Andy's reason for turning on the fence was he heard Mark shout it was all clear. Uhh Mark never shouted anything until after the fence turned on and he got shot with an arrow. Andy turned it on purposely although I can't think of why he would and not expect them to notice. Bandits attacking was indeed a fluke but didn't the arrow come from the woods as well? Maybe I have to replay that but I could have sworn the arrow came from outside the fence.

Either Andy knew before hand about the bandits out there (Unlikely since he was going to go with them before Lee said anything) or he hoped one of them would get zapped by the fence or trapped on the other side for the bandits/walkers to kill so there's two less men in the group.

I actually suspected the bandits were still working with the St. Johns, probably to give the St. Johns a convenient excuse to blame people's disappearances on. A bunch of meth riddled rapists probably don't give a shit if they're cannibals as well. Hell, maybe they get off on it.

The fence coming on and the attack seems like deliberate timing. Maybe the plan was to thin out the group's numbers a little, with any injured people being chopped up for later. Notice the arrow Mark got hit with was white while all the bandits used red arrows. It also came from the direction of the fence and hit Mark shortly before the bandits actually started attacking.

I suspect the plan was Andy turns on the fence to trap Mark and Lee outside. Danny would shoot mark with an arrow, but not kill him so they could eat him later. (Notice he takes Jolene's crossbow after she dies.) The bandits attack and either Lee or Mark can tell the others that's what happened. Maybe the bandits were suppose to kill just Lee, because the St. Johns figure he'd cause the most trouble. Or maybe they were just suppose to scare them and they're so coked up they just don't give a shit.

The other thing was Danny killing Jolene, I suspect that was him doing the bandits a favor. She makes it clear she wasn't with the bandits anymore and has killed some of them herself. Maybe the bandits demanded they St. Johns deal with Jolene, it would explain how Danny knew to find her but didn't know anywhere else where they could find the bandits.

it's true that andy turned the fences on trying to kill them. But it's not true that they shot the arrow at mark.

The arrows were shot by the bandits. I just looked at my recorded footage yes the first arrow that hits mark is from a different angle then the ones immediately following but that is because the bandits are spread throughout the woods and they were shot by different people. The arrow that hits mark comes from the woods in an angle that assumes he must be on the left of the silo. while the others following come from another bandit who is pretty much straight in the woods across the tractor.

Yeah, and the other weird thing is that when you go to Jolene's camp and you find the camera, Danny gets surprised (Facial expression and stutter when speaking) and says "Lemme see that". After that, you mention that the power is dead and he says "Oh, good"

Danny and Andy didn't just stumble across the motel, because Danny had already met Jolene, remember?

Dunno, could have been an accident. Seriously. The bandits discovered they were given human meat, so they attacked the St Johns because of their "no one fucks with us" policy.

I agree with you, I don't think the brothers shot Mark. The bandits clearly shot Mark, and just because they don't have all same colored arrows, doesn't mean it wasn't them.

Here's what I assume happened:

Lee and Mark go clear the fence. The St. John's, knowing more of Lee's group would be visiting, had a pow wow to strategize. Brenda probably at this time gave the "executive order" to thin out the group to make them more manageable (Andy during the dinner scene said Brenda said too many people was trouble). So, they probably decided to turn on the fence when Lee and Mark jumped over, and later tell the group when they arrived that bandits got 'em or they accidentally fried themselves.
