Now that would be something. I'm certain Telltale could do a better job with a CSI adventure game than Ubisoft. The Ubisoft ones just seem so dull and lifeless.

I am sure I am in the minority here, but I can't stand CSI. I hope that isn't true - I don't think I would want an adventure game based on it no matter who made it.

Once again, not that I endorse or like the idea of CSI as a Telltale game...

They get the money the same place they got the money for the Bone license - expected eventual profits. Speaking of which - i wonder who telltale's investors for Bone are? The investors page just says: "Telltale is a privately owned game developer completely funded by private investment." I guess they don't have to tell anyone, and who really cares, but it occurs to me that Telltale's apparent complete intellectual freedom must come from pretty savvy confident investors.

Even if you don't like CSI, a big-name license with strong sales will help set-up the company and effectively subsidise other projects, such as original character games that are more niche market, harder to market and are probably more appealing to the, err, 'hardcore adventure gamer' market.

Though it would be hard to imagine games with such a big license being available via download only. The other advantage with boxing the games & selling at retail is that Bone & original IP demos etc can be included on the CD or DVD, spreading the word about your less-mainstream titles to the unwashed masses.

So yeah, even if you don't personally care for CSI, aquiring such a big-name global franchise can only be good for Telltale as a whole.

I totally agree, JP.
This could be an useful and productive step for them (and eventually for us all). I live in Italy and CSI is very beloved here too.
I am not a CSI-addicted, but I don't dislike it either. I assume that TellTale's CSI adventures would be 3rd person adventure games. Their adventures would be different from the Ubisoft games.

I don't like CSI and am usually quite amused when i go down to the local game store and find 3 games bundled together in the bargain bin for $20. They've been there for about 3 months now. It's all very well Telltale getting a good license but surely they'd best get one people want to play (Maybe it's just where i live i suppose but... meh)

I don't follow CSI, but I've heard good things about it. I might start watching it, if Telltale are gonna start making the games!

Yeeesss
, SURE you don't. [:>]

Anyway, CSI is always good for a laugh. I always thought of it as a extra light comedy. You just have to look at it all from a new angle. For example, have you ever noticed that almost all of the crimes investigated are murders, never a purse snatching or a house break in. I'm sure that's meant to be some sort of a twisted joke or something, are the script writers implying that the world is filled with crazy blood lusting murderers?

There was an episode where they investigated a casino break-in where Japanese artifacts on display were stolen, but it turned out to be a way of distracting them from a bigger crime of breaking into the casino vault.

I liked that one, particularly. Probably because it wasn't about murder, rape, domestic abuse, etc. Those all get old pretty quick. The ones that actually use the Las Vegas backdrop, history, and flavor as a real living set where the crime takes place-- those are the best episodes. Otherwise, it becomes like all those other tired old crime dramas.

I stopped being all that interested in the show recently, though. It seems like all the actors, including the ones from the CSI spinoffs, are trying to be just like the Grissom character: all stoic and depressing. They used to have more individual personality like Greg, until he started working in the field. Now the only one who's interesting is Brass (and the original Grissom, too, of course).

And you can never have enough "evidence processing" montages, can you? 8-|

I still watch the show, however, hoping it'll go back to the way it was, perhaps with a bit more edge, like adding some more dark humor as it's done in the past. The Ubisoft games never interested me, because they seemed so bland and lifeless, as I mentioned. I know if Telltale got their hands on the license, they'd do it right. But no biggie if the rumor is false. We still have Still Life, right?

would you watch an episode about purse snatching?

the "good" parts are in cases of murders, all the fun evidence gathering, and the analysing...
CSI is great, and it could be a great game. plus its a famous brand, that a lot of people know, and it could make this company grow, which is good ofcourse.

Only if the purse snatcher murders a couple of unsuspecting by-passers.

I think it's Dimitris Manos from The Inventory magazine. He gets all kinds of inside information and possible rumors before the rest of us. Stuff that would make your head explode if you knew. You feel that headache you have just hearing this rumor? Well, imagine that times hundred... thousand.
