Default Invoice doesnt match packing slip, bonus tax/customs charge?

I ordered the Soundtrack and Bonus CDs for Season 1 & 2 at September 17th. Now, a mere 2 months later the items finally arrived. Of course it took only two days to bill my credit card... Not very impressive at all. Yes I DID read that there were problems with the season 2 soundtrack.

So today I opened the cheap envelope which looks, like it took quite a beating during shipping, but to my surprise the items were intact and not shattered to pieces.

However while I paid Telltale 29,99$ (+Tax & Shipping), Telltale included an invoice stating a total of 41,98$ (+Shipping), so I've to pay customs on that amount, which means an additonal 1,77€ (~2,25$). It's ok that Telltale doesn't include fake invoices with a ridiculous low totals to avoid taxes as some shops do as that is illegal, but including invoices with an artificially higher total, c'mon! Even though Europe is in recession right now, there is no need for Telltale to support the german government by boosting their customs income.

And yes, the soundtrack _is_ nice, but I think I'll refrain from buying "physical" goods from Telltale in the future

FYI, Telltale does not control Custom Charges. That's an issue for you to take up with your goverment from what I understand.

However, I'm sure Emily and the TTG PR Office can do something to help ease your dissatisfaction in the amount you paid.

If there was a mistake on your invoice, it was not deliberate. If you wouldn't mind writing to support@telltalegames.com, one of us can check it out, see what happened, and try to fix it for you.

Hi,

@Jake: I'll write to that support address, but first I'll try to clarify things here since it might help other people.

The problem in a nutshell is, that I ordered from Telltale and the webshop presented me with this invoice

http://frozenlight.de/ttale_web.png

This is the amount I paid and the amount my credit card was charged with. So this is ok.

Custom charges are my responsibility and I fully expected to pay them . In Germany that means more or less paying the VAT on the goods (as long as you don't import tobacco or plutonium). So I should have paid 19% of 29,99$. However inside the package (which the customs office opened) they found this invoice
http://frozenlight.de/ttale_ze.jpg
, which basically states that I paid 41,98 $ for the DVDs and thus the cusoms office bills me 19% of 41,98 $.

All in all this means I paid < 3$ more as I've outlined in my previous post. I haven't wrote Telltale so far, because I suppose if they refound me ~3$ it'll cost them 5$... Mailing me a new invoice might be easier but doesn't help me since I'd have to go personally to the responsible customs office which is 231km away, so that also doesn't cut it for me ...

As I said in my previous post nothing _really_ bad happened, but all the small nuisances - loong delivery time, wrong invoice, inedequate packaging didn't make this purchase a really good experience™

Ok, now I'm off mailing the "uncensored" invoices to Telltale, so they can prevent this from happen again...

if you are in germany, i don't think telltale can charge tax on physical goods, only downloads, maybe a checkout problem?

Sounds like something may be amiss. Thanks for writing to support.

There is a problem right now with bundle prices showing up as full prices on the packing slips. We're working on getting it straightened out with our fulfillment house. (More info than you probably want to know: this happens because the alternative would be to show a $0 value, which we know would raise red flags at customs and would probably cause even bigger problems!)

In most cases the higher price on the packing slip doesn't make a difference for customs since the price difference is small, but if anyone else does experience this problem with customs, please write in to support@telltalegames.com and let us know how much extra you were due to the error. Thanks.

By the way, you can get the invoice from your order (which displays the bundle price correctly) through your My Telltale account - just click the "invoice" link next to the order number.
