Default activation limits?

sorry if i'm bothering experienced telltale users, i'm new to this page. i bought all former telltalegames on steam, before they decided to screw their european customers with pre-purchase prices like €26.24 instead of $26.

so.. on steam i could re-download the sam and max episodes 1 & 2 as much as i wanted, again and again (and whenever the max-insanity bites me, i'll do it all over AGAIN). will this be different with games bought from telltale games? or can i re-download/activate them as often as i want?

thx!

There is a limit, but I think it's something like 20 or so. And Telltale is extremely good with support, I'd say you'd be able to get more activations if you had a good reason sent to support.

Oh! And I'm pretty sure the season disc uses a disc-based activation system, so in a worst-case scenario you can always play off the disc if I'm not mistaken.

It's unlimited activations from the same computer. The limit is on the number of separate computers it's activated on, though Telltale is known to be accommodating about it.

It's not actually unlimited, but it's 20 activations on each of 20 different hardware fingerprints. Also, we do give out the free* collector's dvd at the end of the season which has no online activation, so you end up with a permanent copy if you're concerned about The Mysterious Future

For the present, though, you can always download your games from our site whenever you want, and they're unlockable using either your website login or your serial number.

*You have to pay for shipping on the DVD

I'm definitely worried about 'The Mysterious Future' so these discs are awesome.
But it is possible to get more than 20 activations, right? Those are only there to prevent people from spreading the game around, I'd think... so if a reasonable amount of time has passed and you've used up all of your 20 activations, you can get more, right?

This was a concern of mine as well, but with the DVD at the end of it all with no online activation required it is much more palatable.

Oh, by-the-way, I am new here!

well ok! thx for diverting my fears. byebye steam then. my love to telltalegames.

i really hate stacking game boxes on my desk, so i do love downloadable games/companies. 20 downloads? even if i re-install my pc after every lan-party... i don't have to worry for the next few years!

thx for all the answers.

Ummm... there's no copy protection on the installer files so why WOULDN'T it be legal to burn and store them anywhere you choose? The protection is all in the online activation, so unless you hand your keys out with the disc you could even give the disc away (and have the installations without a key magically turn into the demos)...

I guess Telltale would also be happy if you DIDN'T download a full copy of each game each time you reinstalled.

np: Pigeon Funk - Alma Hueco (The Largest Bird In The History Of The Planet... Ever!)

20 activations? My god i can't imagine how a living creature could use all of his activations. No problems here.
