Grim Fandango. I'm stuck with the 'tree' in the forest, even with a walkthrough.

Are you having problems with the timing? If so, looking at a video walkthrough might help, if you haven't done that already.

Mass Effect 3 after a replay of ME1-2. Nice to actually own the series this time around, and on PS3 where most of the good DLC is free

Oh and multiplayer isn't that bad, rather surprised about it.

Thank you for the suggestion. If I get stuck there again, I'll consult one. I managed to get it in the end by sheer dumb luck.

It's brilliant that there's finally a stable-ish virtual machine that will take Grim Fandango. I wouldn't have even found out if I hadn't been curious enough to check out the blog link in Jennifer's signature. Last I heard was GrimE was being worked on but not stable. Maybe this is a different project, maybe they renamed it, I don't know.

In any case, there are plenty of bugs still to fix, such as switching between full-screen and windowed during cutscenes restarts the cutscenes but out of sync. The most annoying is when Manny refuses to move, which makes me glad of the autosave.

I managed to get it to work damn near perfectly on Windows 7. The only glitch was in the third year, where if you started the chain moving and then tried to do anything else, you couldn't get off that part of the map. Luckily, with a bit of planning, you can easily make sure that that's the last thing you need to do.

I don't remember if I've played it on my Windows 7 computer yet, but the last time I played it ran pretty well with the GF patch. Haven't tried with ResidualVM yet, but projects like that and ScummVM are pretty awesome in that they make it possible to run the classics on every OS someone bothers to port the client to.

Yeah, I used the Quick and Easy installer to get it on my computer because the prepackaged one won't work with Win 7. But everything else, I just used the compatibility settings that come with Windows to get it to work. With XP, I used to have this horrific stuttering problem during the cutscenes... but Win 7 doesn't even have that. It's fantastic.

Me and my best friend engaged in some Dead Island Co-op
(Since Magicka was acting up on his PC)

And must I say we had a blast!

Buuuutt.... It was mostly due to our shenanigans than the game itself.
(Its not a great game. Not bad, but other games just do it better)

Edit: I think for a long time we thought we was playing Dead Rising instead! XD

The first of the 2013 Kickstarter/Indiegogo games I bought is out now: Dominique Pamplemousse.

If you have it, make sure you watch the end credits. The middle part of the closing song is crazy fast with the first name (or internet handle) of every backer, and it ends in a Monkey Island reference.

Started playing Deponia. Pretty fun game so far. Adventure games seem to be just my speed.

Super Mario Galaxy 2. Its very mind blowing on how impressive Nintendo makes good video games like this one.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3ds)

I wish I had a WiiU so I could get that version too and play it online.
(Fortunately, the 3ds and WiiU games can sync saves with each other, so one can play it on a console, then take that character on the road. Don't know if Cap com have implemented it yet, (I remember them having some issue with it that delayed it at release)

Despite that, its still a fantastic game. Improvement over the PSPs Freedom Unite.
Well... If you have a circle pad pro like I do.
(Second stick and shoulder buttons make for a more comfortable experience that's for sure! )

I just wish that I had someone local to co-op with, but its certainly not impossible to tackle most monsters alone.
Just takes a lot of planning and practice.

Inquisitor. It's actually pretty fun. A bit like Diablo II meets Planescape Torment... with extra torment. I already caught one heretic and she killed me a half a dozen times before I realized the safest way was to accuse her and then run for it and let everyone else kill her to death.

Well the game is called Inquisitor. That's what you'd expect.

Pretty much. I'm enjoying the difficulty curve. The rate I've been going through companions is comparable to Fallout 2. I can NOT keep these guys alive. First it was the dog... then the knight. Luckily, when I reach level 15 there should be a Raise Dead spell available. I just have to remember where I dumped their corpses.

The 'stay focused on editing' game. I'm not doing very well at it - I keep getting distracted by all the sidequests.

Batman: Arkham City for Steam

Already encountered the GFWL bug where my savegames disappeared.

Twice.

Fortunately, there's a thread on the Steam forums that explains how to overcome this with a hex editor, which I then used to recover my savegame the second time it happened.

Fantastic game so far, but the devs behind Games for Windows Live can all go jump in a lake. Please.

Well it WOULD have been Doom 3: BFG Edition, if I could get the damn thing to run on my WinXP machine.

But oh, no, wait - IT WON'T RUN ON WIN XP. Yeah, there was £7.50 down the drain.

Sigh. Back to editing then, grumble grumble.

it's the new edition of Doom 3 which requires Vista or Win 7. Not Win 98.
