My Snes/N64/Gamecube (they all have the same port on them) S-Video cable arrived today!

Can only use it on the downstairs TV though, (my newer Bravia TV doesn't have a S-Video port unfortunately), and the results are just amazing.

There is slight ghosting, and a little wobble, but the picture is so much clearer, crisper and more colourful.

Yoshi's Island just looks FANTASTIC on it.

I had to set my TV to 14:9 mode, since in widescreen it stretches the image quite a bit, (but still has black bars), but this mode gives me a lovely large square image!

Also will come in handy when capturing video on it, as my capture card does S-Video as well.

So I've been playing all my favourites, a bit of Pilotwings, some Super Mario World, some Super Punchout.

Played Super Smash TV the most though!

Man is that game awesome!
Apart from the extreme difficulty its almost perfect.

I got much further than I normally do, which was pretty exciting.

I actually got to the Second boss, but I only had 3 lives left (no continues! Arrgh!), and he easily killed me.

I got Puyo Pop Fever for the DS in the post today, which I am going to play the hell out of.

Man I love a good Puzzler/stacking game!

I'm playing the Portal: The Flash Version map pack for Portal 1, and holy shit is it hard. And the difficulty isn't necessarily in figuring out the solutions, but is more often found in the execution part.

That was painful. Here's a few highlights.

Apparently it's an Aperture Science Heavy Duty Super Attack Mecha. And it was a HUGE pain in the ass.

Got the Sims 3 Town Life stuff pack, so I'll be "play testing" that. Stuff packs don't normally have bugs, but you never know when EA puts all their testing money into their console games and nothing into their PC cash grabbers.

Hated that thing. I don't have ninja-like reflexes so it was a pain in the ass.

Simon the Sorcerer. Still at that phase where you're exploring all possible areas before really getting down to the nitty gritty of solving puzzles.

Question - is talking to the Wise Owl "cheating"? He gives you "hints", many of them seem pretty explicit if you understand what he's saying. However, it's not like you're pushing a "hint" button or anything like that, and there's no hint slider.

No more so than clicking the hints button in any game that does have one. It's still better than using an FAQ, so I think you're OK.

Currently playing through a bunch of mods for Jedi Outcast. Pro tip: Do not play The Dark Alliance if starting to get a little tired of lightsaber fighting. Guh.

Right but I would consider clicking an explicit hints button "cheating" in the sense that I wouldn't be fully satisfied with my accomplishment in finishing that game.

One of the levels is really confusing but the rest is great fun. It really helps if you have played the mod. That confusing level is in there and knowing the layout really helps.

And if you think this was hard don't bother even installing Portal Prelude.

Yesterday I completed The Longest Journey for the first time. I loved it! A bit slow to begin, but it really picks up and hooks you in. Took me approximately 30 hours spanning 23 days.

Today I completed Lume. Most people say that this game will take half an hour on the first playthrough. Well, I got so darn stuck that it took me an hour and a half. And of all things I had to go to a walkthrough! Even with the answer I don't fully understand, but then since it took me three times as long as most other people to complete I'll put that down to me being not too bright.

Tomorrow I'm going back to shooting things as I will be replaying Unreal.

Oh, and I've started the second Kyle Hyde game, Last Window: Secret of Cape West, on the DSi.
