Might be right there, hehe. Seems it was a bit too much wishful-thinking from me, hoping he'd actually had gotten that e-mail.

These threads are tiring...

I've been doing videogame localisation for a while now and anybody who thinks it is easy to do it same time as the more important (no matter how you look at it) English version doesn't really know all that is involved. Things seem a lot easier from the outside.

I am Italian as well but am lucky enough to be bilingual and whereas I have always hated translations (especially books), I think it to be perfectly fair for there to be a market for localised assets. People should take it as a bonus when games are released same day in all languages.

@Telltale: thanks a lot for TOMI, never got round to thanking you lot

I'd say the game will be translated when it comes out on CD.

While we wait your official response, I can guess my own: Sam & Max is not the same case than Wallace & Gromit. Wallace & Gromit PC have subtitles in different languages because it was developed at the same time for PC and for XBLA.
Sam & Max was developed first for PC, english only, and it was ported to XBLA a while after.

It 'a very good deduction. But does not justify the fact that PC users are so much neglected. It seems that Microsoft pays the TTG to develop titles exclusively subtitled otherwise will not run on that platform (XBLA). Well developed subtitles for XBLA and once the facts do not re-edited pc's versions !?!?.
Write this in the TOMI's forum subtitle why, and I think I'm wrong, who also happen with Tales of Monkey Island.

Next year I think Tales of Monkey Island will be fully dubbed and subtitled for hearing-impaired people (or for everybody who wants subtitles too) in italian and distributed in computer shops, etc...

Monkey Island is too big and important, it MUST be localized.
Italian, french, german and spanish, at least.
We just have to wait for 2010.

P.S.: children in Italy don't speak english, so a huge number of potential TOMI players can't play it.

i know half life 2 episode three has sign language, atleast theyve said theyve been playing with it, perhaps for a deaf character or the option for deaf people to play seeing alex use sign language, which would kind of be cool because i can see her using her hands alot and it not lookming too shabby,

sorry, that was kinda off topic...

I forgot to say that Sam & Max Season One was released on multilanguage PC retail in Europe BEFORE it was released on XBLA, so your complain about Sam & Max doesn't make much sense. True, you can't buy it in Italian (or Spanish as it's my case) directly on the Telltale store, but the localized version does exist.
And I'm pretty sure the same will happen with ToMI. You won't be able to buy it in any language other than English from Telltale store, but the localized version will come, 99'99% guaranteed. Just relax and wait.

You are absolutely right. what you wrote is right. I do not understand why in digital delivery is available for XBLA and PC no. Understand that the TTG a mandate to locate TOMI a few companies in Europe that is external to the team TTG. I agree that CD-DVD has come out TOMI S & M is subtitled, and I respect that because I booked a special box designed by Steve Purcell and I hope that in December on a CD-DVD TOMI has been localized.

I am surprised Telltale did not offer translated subtitles for their games at release. It is not THAT much work, and Europe with its less console-more-homecomputer-history is a place where many adventure-fans live. While American game fans usually think of Mario, Sonic, Mega Man at first when it comes to gaming classics, in Germany you canb e sure Monkey Island is among the top 5. So it would be really good for sales if Telltale would manage to deliver multiple languages at release.

For me personally I don´t care. I understand English well enough, and I am absolutely happy I don´t have to deal with German voices. Voice overs in Germany are usually below average; only in games though, because publishers feel they can basically cut costs in that aspect.

I've just read the sticky about translations, and I still have a doubt.
I understand that the downloadable monthly episodes will still be English only, but the final collector's DVD will be multilanguage.
So, no need really to wait for an european third part retailer for the game. I can buy it now from Telltale, play the episodes monthly in English, and when the season is over, I'll get Telltale's multilanguage DVD, it isn't?
I got the idea properly, or I got mistaken?
If someone of Telltale's staff clears my doubts, I buy the game the next milisecond.
By the way, a billion thanks, Telltale.
¡Muchas gracias!

Don't hold your breath. If past releases are anything to go by, probably not. Generally, Telltale leaves it for the local publishers to do translation duties. Of course, LucasArts' involvement throws a spanner in the works.

If anyone's going to translate ToMI, it will probably either be LucasArts or another publisher. Of course, this means nothing in relation on if there will be a translated version on the Telltale Collector's Edition DVD, other than the words "Don't hold your breath".
