I really didn't have to quote this part but I can just take this moment to say that Star Wars sucks and I have never watched more than 1 or 2 out of the 6.

Games should be labeled based on their timeline in a series. In this case, the developers have already said ToMI takes place after a fictional 5th game.

I take the rather radical approach of making things easy for a possible audience who hasn't pre-ordered the special edition super bonus t-shirt. Instead of making stuff easy, you want to make stuff hard. How would it work with "back to the future"? So you're all for titles like "MI -12" (yeah, that's Monkey Island minus twelve). We should also use decimals! Then things would get really complicated!
Get a clue. Keep stuff simple and easy so there will be no misunderstandings and so that everyone will know what we're talking about so we can talk about better stuff than "naa aaahh, it's called cartoonISH".

And I really can't consider episodic games as "game xx in a series", personally.

It's just formality anyways, has nothing to do with the actual gameplay. Not everyone is involved in forums and has info. They could just be downloading MI2 for kicks then just googling MI5 out of bordedom and when not getting any results, they'll just not look anymore. Make things easy. Me for president.
