Default Was anyone else annoyed with...

Was anyone else annoyed with the constant sound of the wind? I know it's important for the story, but after three hours of playtime I just had to go to the sound options and turn the sound effects all the way down. It was really starting to give me a headache. I haven't seen anyone else mention this. Was I the only one who thought it was too loud and insistent?

Aside from this, I absolutely loved the game btw. Money very well spent!

Nope, not at all. I though it brought a great atmosphere of being at sea.

I think I would have liked it better if it had been mostly quieter, with a louder gust of wind every few seconds. Synchronised with every time a piece of paper flew by for example. I think it's because the sound never stopped that it started to get to me.

There was wind?
Now you mention it I do remember.
Nope, I think it gave us the flavor of the island pretty well
But I did think it was odd that the wind seemed to have the same symptoms over the island even once it had changed :P

Nitpicking really.

I have whined about the dialogue and runtime length, and I'm not usually a whiner, but....

no, really, I really enjoyed it, it was fun and the ambiance was good, there were a few issues, but all in all fun (too short :P ) but fun...

_but_ , one thing I have to mention, I spent some time in the jungle on the idols being a dumb ass (kept looking at the dang wind vane, instead of using on idol)...

the annoying flute, with like 3 notes, played over and over, first time I ever turned off the music, if there were just a few more notes in the loop...

the rest of the music was great...

The only time it was annoying was talking to Hemlock McGee.

I was beginning to develop a headache yesterday, too, but it turns out that there was a gas leak outside...

I never had a problem with the game itself. In fact, the wind (and the objects blowing around) added to the overall atmosphere of Flotsam Island.

Aye, I missed a couple of lines there cause I couldn't make out what he was saying over the noise of the wind.

As I said in another thread, it's all intentional - it reflects Guybrush wanting to save Elaine and kick LeChuck's butt, but this damned wind is stopping him ;P

I liked the sound, but but, it was buggy in atleast a few scenes where it suddenly became constant and so loud i could hear either music or voices

But the wind sound and the things moving, it really helps move the game away from the "this is a empty stage" which Sam & Max suffered from, Overall Monkey island really felt more alive and atmospheric.

You can adjust the volume of speech, music and sound effects (like the wind) separatly in the options menu.

I agree also, the wind was a little annoying in certain scenes. What got to me the most though was how I couldn't hear a lot of the voices over the background sounds. There was a lot of loud overlap in dialog and I just couldn't make out what some of the lines were.

It would be great if Telltale would make a system that automatically quieted sounds and music when your engaged in dialog.

And how when people talk.. you could hear them
And how Lechuck can talk

Silly voices!

It depends. On one of my PCs, the sound of the music and SFX is just jarringly high. On another, the mix sounds fine.

I don't remember the wind being a problem, but I never found the music a problem in W&G. Maybe it a similar problem with some systems playing sound channels at different volumes to others and the wind is playing louder than intended.
