Well, at least we have confirmation they'd LIKE to do it. It's a no brainer that EVERYONE MUST buy TOMI and the SE to make this work.

Not so sure about the 32 year old Hoagie, Laverne, and Bernard. I'd rather see some of the other Maniac Mansion characters explored in a sequel, like Razor, who is unique enough to need more character development. And with Dave around, that makes triple the awesome.

(I wonder what kind of schemes Dave is already thinking up in regards to this, as he's sure to be a-schemin'.)

I like the idea of the characters being adults, also i wouldnt mind if all three DOTT protagonist couldnt come back (although Laverne should really do it).
What intrigues me is how could it be fitted into episodes, since with all the character-switching (and it definitevly should have character-switching like the previous games) the episodes would seem too short or simple (in terms of ammount of puzzles for each character)

Anyway, these are still rumors and wishes.

Part of the marketing of new games of classic franchises is the reintroduction of your favourite characters from 'back-in-the-day'. Laverne was probably the least liked of the DOTT 3. Making new games without Hoagie or Bernard would cause a huge fan outcry.

Of course there could be new playable characters in each episode (or ones not seen since Maniac Mansion), but you'd want at least one of Bernard, Hoagie or Laverne (and maybe Green Tentacle) playable in each episode.

I worry a bit about this getting the Terminator 3 problem... Terminator 3 was bad because it didn't seem to follow the steps that made Terminator 2 such a great sequel, because it was too busy trying to recreate Terminator 2. While T2 was revolutionary and risky, T3 just came across as a bad rehash of T2.

I think for Telltale to make this work they'd have to not listen to the fans at all, and instead focus on making a sequel as creative and refreshing as DoTT was, rather than just recreating DoTT.

I like DOTT way more than Monkey Island. Actually, I liked Maniac Mansion 1 the best, but DOTT was a great game too.

Personally, I wasn't really happy about the new Monkey Island series, I was just excited because, well, after being on these forums for a while, the Monkey Island fans get to you.

Really??? I think she was great, just remembering the whole scene with the hamster in the microwave or the little chat with Ted the mummy makes me smile.

I don't know. Who was complaining that Dave Miller and Sandy Pantz weren't in Day of the Tentacle (besides me)? I say treat it as Maniac Mansion 3, rather than DOTT2. Take the basic concept of 3 characters in a house and go in some completely new, crazy direction with it. Aside from some fundamental gameplay ideas, Maniac Mansion and DOTT are cut from a completely different cloth.
