Default Graphics problems with TOMI on vista with ati radeon X1950XT

Hi,

I have some graphic issues as you can see in this screenshot:
http://darkag.free.fr/bug_tomi_vista_ati_x1950xt.jpg

I have less of these bug when I reduce quality from 9 to 6 but they are still present. I have the last version of driver for my video card.

my configuration:
proc: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
RAM: 2GB
video card: ati radeon X1950XT 256MB with catalyst 9.3
os: vista 32bits SP2

I also noticed a strange difference between the rendering of the ingredient list on my desktop computer and my laptop:
this is how the ingredient list is rendered on my laptop:

and this the same list on my desktop computer:

So for the character polys going all over the place, is that consistent or does it appear after playing for a bit.

As for the ingredient list... that's just strange. It's like the texture is getting compressed. Do you have any settings turned on for you video card that might do something like that?

It appears after playing for a bit (It seems that I can remove them by clicking on Apply in display menu).

For the ingredient list it was effectively caused by some option in catalyst control center (i've restored default parameters and the list is nox correctly displayed)

It's *possible* that your videocard is overheating. No guarantee, I've seen that sort of response to it before. If you feel comfortable doing this sort of thing, it might be worth opening up computer to see if the video card is caked with dust.

Artefacts (I'm Australian :P) would explain the whole set, but could be caused by heat or drivers.

Check your motherboard manufacturer's website for the latest chipset drivers too. It may sound completely off topic, but I've seen artefacts crop up from the wrong chipset drivers (though that was back in the days of AGP, I should imagine PCI-E being mishandled is equally ugly).

As for the heat, surely CPUz or Speedfan or Catalyst should have some temperature probe on diode. As your card should be new enough the information should be in the Catalyst Control Panel. Check it before you game. Once it starts happening, either save and quit the game, then check again, or ALT+TAB (switch process) and check it.

If you has passed the magic number of 65 C (~150 F) you may need to remove dust (CAREFULLY) or install additional cooling, clear up cabling, etc..
