Artefacts (I'm Australian :P) would explain the whole set, but could be caused by heat or drivers.
Check your motherboard manufacturer's website for the latest chipset drivers too. It may sound completely off topic, but I've seen artefacts crop up from the wrong chipset drivers (though that was back in the days of AGP, I should imagine PCI-E being mishandled is equally ugly).
As for the heat, surely CPUz or Speedfan or Catalyst should have some temperature probe on diode. As your card should be new enough the information should be in the Catalyst Control Panel. Check it before you game. Once it starts happening, either save and quit the game, then check again, or ALT+TAB (switch process) and check it.
If you has passed the magic number of 65 C (~150 F) you may need to remove dust (CAREFULLY) or install additional cooling, clear up cabling, etc..
