The Walking Dead Season 2 FAQ

Questions for those new to Telltale’s The Walking Dead

What kind of game is this?
Unlike most other ‘zombie’ games, The Walking Dead is not a ‘shooter’. While there will be use of weapons, and you will fight for your life against the undead (and the living), you won’t mow down shambling hordes with your high-powered machine gun with unlimited ammo, because that wouldn’t be an accurate representation of the world that Robert Kirkman created. In The Walking Dead, it will be your actions and how you interact with other survivors that will determine your fate (and that of others). When we’re stripped of our weapons and any learned skills, we’re all left with one thing: choice. In The Walking Dead, your choices won’t be easy and they will matter.
Is this game difficult to play? What are the controls like?
Our games are designed to allow anyone to play (rating allowing), regardless of their experience as a ‘gamer’. The difficulty comes not in mastering controls, but in being forced to make tough decisions with far-reaching consequences.
Do I have to play Season One and/or 400 Days to play this game?
No, but we recommend that you do. Like any TV show, book or movie series, it’s often more enjoyable to know the story and characters from the beginning. Season One and 400 Days are available to download now or buy from your favorite retailer.
Do I need to have read The Walking Dead comic books to enjoy this game?
No. Although they are set in the same universe and have some crossover points, they are each their own story and one is not required to enjoy or understand the other.
Is this game series related to The Walking Dead TV show?
No. Although the TV show and our game series are both licenses based on Robert Kirkman’s comic books, there is no other link between them.
Why is this game episodic? What does that mean?
Telltale has a history of releasing episodic games – our development philosophy is built around it and it’s something that makes us different from most other developers. Like many story-based TV shows, the game will tell a complete story arc over the course of a season. We will periodically release one episode at a time until all 5 episodes are available and the season is complete.
How many episodes are there in a season, and when are they made available?
There are five episodes in each season. Episodes are usually available to download between 4 and 6 weeks apart.
Is Season Two available to buy on disc?
We usually release all five episodes of a season on disc or other retail format sometime after the fifth episode is made available to download. Telltale is a ‘digital-first’ company.
How long is each episode?
It varies by player, but most people finish an episode in around 2 hours.
Is there multiplayer?
No. However, we’ve found that many people like to play ‘together’ and enjoy the episode like a TV show.
Which games systems is this game available for?
Season Two: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Mac and compatible iOS devices. Other platforms are yet to be announced. Visit the Season One page for specifics to that season.

Questions for those who have played Season One and/or the DLC episode ‘400 Days’

I no longer have my save files from Season One/400 Days, is there anything that I can do?
The game will generate Season One/400 Days choices for you that affect Season Two’s story. These may not be the same choices you originally made.
Why do I play as a little girl in Season Two?
The apocalypse doesn’t care who you are or what you can do; you just have to survive. Playing as Clementine will present you with some unique challenges and if you cared about her in Season One, you’ll care about her – perhaps more - in Season Two.
Will any characters from Season One or 400 Days appear in Season Two?
Yes…but we’ll let you find out who.
I played Season One, but I didn’t play 400 Days, does that matter?
You can play and enjoy Season Two without having played 400 Days, but events and characters from 400 Days have an impact on Season Two. For those that want to know the full story, we recommend that you play 400 Days before getting into Season Two.
I didn’t play all 5 episodes of Season One, does that matter?
If you still have the save files from the episodes that you did play, the decisions you made will affect Season Two, but where decisions are ‘missing’ from episodes that you didn’t complete, Season Two will ‘choose’ a pathway for you. As always, we recommend playing through all of Season One before playing Season Two, but you certainly don’t have to.
