TWD Season 1 Mac/SnowLeopard - Black Screen

posted by space5 on - last edited - Viewed by 1.3K users

Hi there. I just installed TWD Season 1, Episodes 1-5 and 400 Days bundle on my Mac. The App won't launch at all. The Screen just goes black and stays that way. No error messages. You'll find my support data here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/2wzrdr Appreciate your help very much! thanks!

Okay - the best trouble shooting you can do is not shooting the mac or yourself. and not posting to this forum and wait for answers. If you use a mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and have the same issues right after installing, you might solve the problem by going to your user's "Library"-> "Application Support" -> "Telltale Games"and "The Walking Dead", remove "prefs.prop" from this folder (drag onto your desktop) and remove all temporary files from "SyncFS" -> "Temp". Then try launching. Worked fine for me, for a start. Works even better than the post comment button on this website... if you ever need some help with that...

I apologize for the inconvenience. After looking over your support tool data, it seems that your graphics card is only running at half speed. (256mb) This may cause the black screen error, as our system recommendation is 512mb. Please make sure that you have the latest driver versions for your graphics card to make sure that your card is running at its optimum speed. Also, please make sure that you do not have any other programs or applications running in the background when launching the game.

    • I have exactly the same problem. I have a vanilla macbook pro (latest model) with a gfx card that can access 1gb of memory. There are no other apps running. This threads fix didn't help either. For christs sake, the latest tomb raider is running in full glory on this laptop, but the walking dead has difficulties?!

    • Thanks Mike, but you cannot download or install drivers for graphics cards on Macs - those drivers are included in OS updates only. And I don't really feel like upgrading my OS, as it would mean costly updates and renewals of all the graphics software I run on it to earn my living ;).

    • okay - I just downloaded the whole thing again and installed it anew. Heres my console error output:

If you are unable to update your graphics card, or graphics card's drivers, I would recommend that you play on a supported system as your current system does not meet the minimum system requirements to run the game. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
